History

Longpoint farm is located in Ridge, Maryland, and has expansive views of Smith and Jutland Creeks. Longpoint farm was established around 1900. Our venture into sheep began in 2001 with one goat and one sheep. Since that time we have developed a unique breed of sheep aimed at producing high quality meat, dairy, and wool products. Our Border Leicester crosses produce wonderful wool which is perfect for spinning. The Karakul, Jacob, Hog Island, and Border Leicester crosses have produced lovely wool for felting or spinning in addition to top quality meat with a superior flavor. We are also using our dairy sheep to make soap, cheese, and yogurt. Crossing our dairy sheep with our other breeds has also produced wonderful lambs with excellent wool and milking quality.
